Since vaccination’s been the talk of the town lately, I bet most of you may heard a lot of stories from A – Z on how it went down for every resident in Kuching. We managed to get the inside scoops from a Kuching resident and here’s what he had to say about his personal experience:
Mr H: “I made my registration on MySejahtera on May 11th 2021 and a few days later I was notified via www.vaksincovid.gov.my (JKJAV) that my vaccine appointment is set for May 23th 2021. Alhamdulillah, I didn’t have to wait that long – probably because I am 72 years old and naturally I was rolled in the Priority category. 2 days before my vaccination date, I was informed once again via SMS as a reminder.
While waiting for my vaccination date to arrive, I did a bit of research on the latest issues that I have been getting on my WhatsApp chats that made me confused for a moment. However, there were credible messages that came about regarding the vaccination. I have roughly about 7 groups on my WhatsApp and sometimes I would receive no less than 100 updates a day – Most of us are pensioners and most of them from my WhatsApp groups are highly positive about the vaccination program.
Understandably, the country is currently going through a very difficult time especially when Covid-19 is rising rapidly each day. Due to that, the government has handled the matter critically in order to win this war. To date, more than 400,000 people have been infected nationwide.
However, we have had a great leader to guide and control this matter ever since this outbreak happened. It is almost a year now that Tan Sri Hisham Abdullah, the Director General of Health has been working hard and battling his way to stop and break the Covid-19 chain; endlessly reminding the people to maintain social distancing, wear face mask, advising to comply with SOPs and making sure that the cases are decreasing each day. He seems to know what he is doing and Malaysia is indeed lucky to have him on board.
On the day of vaccination, I was accompanied by my daughter and my appointment was set at Stadium Perpaduan, Kuching. I usually drive on my own when attending medical appointments at hospitals, however, I chose to be accompanied as I heard there were a few emergency cases that had happened after the vaccine. Also, I was worried that I could not find any parking at the stadium as there will be a lot of people attending for the vaccination on the same day as me.
The vaccination process went smoothly – As I got off the car, I was greeted by a large number of officers pointing the way and first things first, I log into MySejahtera, queued up to take a number and one of the officers asked us to sit while filling out the consent form to receive the vaccine. (Take note to those who’s about to take their vaccination, make sure to bring your own pen!)
In the waiting hall, I can see there were a lot of people in the stadium. Probably not as packed as in Selangor, but it was manageable as the officers that were there did a fantastic job in moving the people that came for the vaccination. Even though I was getting my vaccination, I still have to comply with the SOPs, hence, I even brought my own hand sanitizers and my favourite has to be Annur Scented Hand Sanitizers because it comes with 5 variants and it is skin-friendly and I could fit it in my pocket.
I had to spray my hands once in a while as I forgot to bring my own pen and worried that the pen that was given to me was passed on from different persons in the queue before me. My queue number was called after an hour of waiting. Then, I headed to the counter to confirm my identity and answer questions about health as needed.
The situation in this area was also quite comfortable and orderly and after 30 minutes of waiting I was also called for an injection. The injection process takes only a short time. I was injected in the upper left arm – it didn’t hurt, just like being bitten by an ant. Lastly, I was asked to check MySejahtera again to confirm that the injection had been received. With that being said, everything went well and I will be waiting for my next second dose appointment in 3 weeks time.”
And there you go – Definitely a smooth experience according to Mr. H! To those who are not familiar with MySejahtera, please ask those who are familiar with it and to those who are interested in getting their vaccination, kindly visit www.vaksincovid.gov.my to register and fill-up your personal information correctly. We strongly urge each and everyone to take their vaccination in order to stop Covid-19 and comply with the given SOPs in order for us to break the coronavirus chain in Malaysia – we at Annur care about you.
